You know something, and I am welling up with tears, sorry — the proudest moment is coming up this season. You’ll know what it is. It’s a big one. I don’t know whether it’s two episodes from now — sorry for this reaction! Just asking that question stirred me up. Yes, it’s coming. That’s all I can tell about that so far. Someone reveals something very personal that’s a beautiful moment. And it happens on the runway.

Project Runway Is Back

Project Runway Surpasses 4 Million Viewers
On the heels of having what fans, bloggers and writers called its best episode ever on August 26th, Lifetime’s Project Runway broke records last night by surpassing four million Total Viewers (4,002,000) and two million Adults 25-54 viewers (2,160,000) – up double digits vs. the Season 8 to date average -- making it the series’ most watched episode in the demos since its Season 6 finale on November 19, 2009. In its new, 90-minute format, half-hour impressions among Adults 25-54 grew throughout the entire episode last night, up from the first 30 minutes to the final half-hour (2,094,000 to 2,122,000 to 2,265,000), according to Nielsen Research. Additionally, Project Runway averaged 1,764,000 Women 18-49 viewers and 1,686,000 Women 25-54 viewers – both also series highs since the Season 6 finale and up double digits compared to STD. Project Runway generated a 3.1 Household rating yesterday. Season 8 of Project Runway is this year’s number one competitive un-scripted program on ad-supported cable among Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Women 18+ and Women 18-34.
Congratulations to everyone at Lifetime and Bunim-Murray for this great news. Is anyone surprised? The show really has found its dramatic groove this season and the last two episodes have been especially compelling. It certainly has made it easier to blog about!
This season has a chance to even surpass Bravo's high point in Season 3, and what an accomplishment that would be. It has been an unexpected turnaround for the franchise and we couldn't be more thrilled for the cast and crew. Go ahead, you can argue that it is more drama than design, but you will be tuning in next week just like us!
BPR Interview with Peach Carr
Project Runway Season 8 designer, Peach Carr talks about her experience on the show.
A couple of highlights: Regarding last night's episode - Peach was surprised that Michael C won the challenge and thought that Mondo had the best design.
Peach did not overhear Michael C telling the voters at the showcase not to vote for Ivy...
And of course I could not resist asking her if Gretchen and Ivy were being "unfairly portrayed" as the "mean girls...."

Judicial Revenge
For all of the talk coming in to Episode 6, we were prepared to witness Michael Costello behaving badly. Bruised and battered by his fellow designers ever since his win in the hat challenge, the previews promised sabotage. And when Ivy intimated at the designer showcase that Michael was trash talking her to the public, we thought it was on. But from everything we were shown, that didn't seem to be the case. Instead, unbeknowst to the designers, there would be a much more powerful force at play.
It was was very disappointing to see the Kool Kidz Designer Club continue their denigration of Michael C. He can't sew, he can't make a pattern, he can't drape and on and on and on. Give it up already designers, someone is putting these looks out on the runway every week. And while we can argue about whether or not his wins have been deserved, can we please stop with the whipsering and ganging up on him? This is a classic case of bullying with the Parsons workroom filling in for the playground. Kudos to Casanova for not getting sucked into this.
But lets be honest here, Michael C. wins? Really? It sounded as if Mondo received the popular vote, but this wasn't "about what we are looking at today" as CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner Michael Kors hilariously spun last week. This decision was about making sure everyone knew their place in the fashion game.
The judges deliberation was very telling. Heidi , Nina and CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner Michael Kors immediately gravitated to Michael C. getting thrown under the bus in the last challenge. They were not going to have it. If anyone gets to bully and throw people under the bus, it will be them! How dare Gretchen think she can be the alpha designer out here in Project Runway land. This win was payback by the judges for their behavior in the team challenge, plain and simple.
The judges message was clear: to hell with the public and screw you designers. We are the arbiters of what is fashion around here. Now that everyone knows their place, let's just happily get along with the competition, shall we?
