The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection

Project Runway fans may want to check out Bravo's newly re-tooled replacement series The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection which premieres tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET. Tbone will be hosting a live-blog chat room every week on our sister site Blogging Bravo.

The big news for Season 2 is Iman. She has been brought on as both host and Executive Producer. The 12 designers will be split into two teams of "fashion houses" and are responsible for producing a complete runway show each week. Here's the preview again in case you missed it:

Amanda's Take - Season 7 - Episode 1

Season Three Model, Amanda Fields returns to BPR with her take on the models each week - thanks Amanda!

It is so incredibly refreshing to see the designers on Project Runway walking and sashaying down the street in New York into the Atlas Apartment building and into the Parsons School of Design. This is the show we all love and have a soft spot for in our hearts. There is nothing at all wrong with doing the show here in LA, it's just not the same show.

Simply based on personalities, I think the final three (I only have it narrowed down to 4) will be the girl from Portland (Janeane), Maya, Emilio and Amy Sarabi...

After seeing the clothes on the runway, LOVE Jay Nicholas! LOVE Emilio! LOVE Janeane! LOVE MILA! Like Maya...


MODELS I LOVE Holly, Alexis, Brittany.



"She looks like a Hershey Chocolate Bar!" Oh Nina. Hilarious.

Ping Wu: oh Ping. Ping declared that her designs look best on a human form. Shouldn't that be true for all fashion designers? In any case, I found it to be troublesome that she draped her look on herself, rather than using a dress form. Why? For the same reason that I wouldn't permit my students at Parsons to design for themselves: It removes the element of objectivity; that is, you're only looking at how the design looks on you and, consequently, aren't considering how it will look on someone else. It's very problematic, in my view. Ping made separates. On the bottom, she used an ombréd satin to create a shape that I can best describe as being "diaperesque." Her top was a loosely draped shawl/cape that was given more shape, thankfully, by virtue of it being tucked into the bottom piece (the diaper) and held secure by a one-shoulder strap. Ping topped it all off with a cloche (OK) and draped another textile over her model's arm (why?). Ping?

Congratulations, Emilo

You wanted to show the judges that your point of view was about meticulous construction and perfect fit and you loved how your young and flirty cocktail dress "moved like a dream" on the runway. Nina Garcia mentioned how it would have great appeal on a hanger and that it looked expensive. Michael Kors phrased it deceptively simple while Nicole Richie loved the full skirt calling it sexy and girlie. Heidi Klum told you that it was fun and innovative. As you said, Emilio, you "hit it on the head!"

BPR Love for Christiane King

You wanted the chance to show your point of view which includes your love of color, layers and texture. And you got that opportunity along with the pleasure of seeing your garment walk down the runway. Nina Garcia liked the draping and Michael Kors mentioned the how he appreciated the effortless effect you achieved with the shoulder detail. Unfortunately someone has to be the first to go but you left with a very strong effort. Your looks have been on celebrities, on the cover of magazines and on the red carpet and your determination and style will continue to bring you much success. Keep us informed because we're following you, Christiane!

Tonight On BPR

It's back to New York City and The Atlas rooftop for the premiere of Season 7! Now doesn't that bring back some fond memories?

Much is riding on this new cycle as Lifetime and Bunim-Murray try to rebound from a disappointing run in Season 6. The return to the Big Apple, the Parsons workroom and full attendance from Nina Garcia and Michael Kors can only help. So even if the buzz may be a bit duller than usual, we enter the new season with hope. Here's the gameplan for premiere night:

• Club BPR's comment page has gone through an off-season remodel and is ready for a party run! All are welcome to join PR fans from across the land to snark their way through episode 1 as it airs. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. ET
• Tbone and suzq will be live blogging the premiere beginning at 10:00 p.m. If you do not have Lifetime, we will tell you what's going on as it happens!
• Come back and tell us what you really thought about the episode in our weekly reactions thread, posted immediately after the show.

Alas, we will miss the grand poobah of prognostication Alan Gratz this season but are thrilled for his new opportunity in Japan. We're going to continue to keep it fun this season on BPR but need your help and participation. See you tonight!

While Laura K. favored the dress by Irina Shabayeva, the gown by Ra’Mon-Lawrence Coleman nearly made me swoon with delight. I thought this is the kind of dress that would make Rachel Zoe take notice on the runway, thinking of her clients for awards season. Uma Thurman, Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett or Nicole Kidman would all be stunning in this look; those ladies would understand exactly how to use the train for a dramatic effect on the red carpet. With the right Asprey, Fred Leighton or Van Cleef and Arpels gems (which of course the Project Runway designers did not have access to on the accessory wall) this garment would make a glamorous statement on a statuesque screen goddess at the Oscars. BPR Interview with Ari Fish

Ari, how did you arrive at your design - was it fully formed in your mind before you began, or did it evolve as you worked?

Well, I thought about it and I decided what I wanted to construct for the challenge. I try not to sketch, because, one it's a waste of my time, and two, I try to keep things open so as to not lock down a certain idea. The styling evolved after I met Erika, my model.

Did it turn out as you originally envisioned it?

I envisioned it even bigger around her torso, like unbelievably big, and her hair even more huge, but I tamed it down a little, knowing the audience wouldn't get it.
