BPR Field Report From the Rami Kashou Exhibit in Los Angeles

Our newest Field Reporter, TCee visited the Third Annual Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design Exhibit at FIDM in Los Angeles. Six of Rami Kashou's designs are featured. Thanks, TCee!

I went to the FIDM exhibit and loved it! There are many Emmy nominated shows and work from designers such as Bob Mackie, but my favorite of course was Rami Kashou.

Not all of Rami's designs were there, only six and they looked outstanding. They are really displayed beautifully! They even painted a shadow of Heidi Klum on the back display wall, which I thought was really cool.

I appreciated all 3 of the finale collections for Project Runway Season 4, but after looking at Rami's designs close up I must say I cannot believe he didn't win it all. All of his designs are flawlessly executed and the black gown is truly a work of art. The gold gowns are breathtaking in person and the teal suit was gorgeous to see close up. I highly recommend going to see the exhibit.

The mailbox is stuffed with great things today!

This is adorable. You've heard of dressing to "the nines?"
Well now you can "Dress to the sevens" with Tim Gunn.

Whenever the kids would greet me with "Holla!" I would answer "Lujah!" - kind of like a game of Marco Polo. The kids would laugh at my dorkiness. I exhibited the same bewilderment as Tim Gunn. (By the way, the kids gave this up several years ago. Ahem.)

Amanda's Take - Episode Three

Amanda Fields offers her look at the models in episode three - thanks Amanda!

My take is a little late this week because I have my wonderful sister in town! We have been busy shopping and going to parties and even going to see Mamma Mia!

Is it me or has every episode this season been a re-working of an old one?

I am not saying they are exactly the same, but the first one was! The second one was a "green themed" episode, and in season 2 they used plants. In the third episode the designers took photos of New York and made a garment that was inspired by the photograph. It was still fun to watch, but this is just like the Inspiration challenge in season 2!

But the models worked it out!

I knew Suede would stay with Tia, and therefore making Alyssa be out. But then she was back in! Who was it that had to drop out of the competition? It is sad to say that I don't remember who was the missing girl. I know they said her name and all, but I'm saying she didn't leave an impression.

You know I love Shannone and Kendall! Karalyn has a sweet presence on the runway. And Nicole WORKED that pose behind the scrim before she walked out in that green gown! Shannone wearing Kenley Collins - I still say it - is my dream team! Xaviera was workin' it this week too!!

One thing I have to say - there aren't any models this season that are stinkin' up the runway. Sure, I have my favorites and I know what I want to see from them, but there isn't a girl that walks and I say..."what is she doing!!?"

I also wish there was a red head. ;)

Terri Is So Very

Three episodes into season 5 of Project Runway, we're all still trying to figure out who's who amongst the designers. Separating the characters from the real talent takes a little while when faced with such a large cast. But one designer has come seemingly from out of nowhere to make a strong, early mark on the competition with her designs.

Terri Stevens has been working as a stylist and designer on the edges of the fashion industry for years,trying to make a mark with her "funky street chic" designs. It takes more than talent to make it on your own as a freelancer, and Project Runway has provided her a golden opportunity to show what she can do. She has not disappointed.

When we saw her grab those mopheads at Gristedes in the opening challenge we thought...ugh. But the gorgeous braided halter she created surprised everyone with its innovation. And in the Episode 2 "green" challenge, she was duly robbed of a place in the Top 3 with her navy ruffled silk/hemp dress. We suspect a bit of producer meddling put Stella on the runway in Terri's place.

In "Bright Lights/Big City", recognition finally came her way. Even though it didn't win, her backless print dress drew praise from the judges and a spot in the top 3. We feel like we've barely seen or heard anything from Terri in the first three episodes and we hope that changes soon. Based on her design work so far, we can confidently say that Terri Is So Very......good.
